It's great that there are positives with his new placement. So tough that it is such an arduous journey for you and a huge adjustment for him. I have heard of families getting financial support for visits (e.g. plane tickets) It's not clear to me what the criteria for this is - I'm not sure if this is only available for 'looked after' children. So sorry to hear this. Did your son have a pre-admission emergency Care and Treatment Review? If not, you can ask for one. It will bring all the people together involved in your son's care in front of an independent panel of experts. Hello Ruth. I'm so sorry to hear about what you and your son are facing and going through. Has your son had a Care and Treatment review? If not, I'd strongly suggest you ask for one as it will bring all the professionals involved in your son's care and treatment together in front of an independent reviewing panel. sadly not. We got no help with this. Apparently you can get help with travel costs if your child has 'Looked After Child' status.
